Who are we as Democrats?
We share three traits: First, Democrats have empathy. Everyone cares for their own people, but Democrats care for other people, people who may be different and people who they have never met. Second, Democrats believe in responsibility for themselves but also responsibility for each other. Finally, Democrats believe in the common good. We believe that the private depends on the public and that good government can make people’s lives better. These universal traits of Democrats – empathy, responsibility for ourselves and each other and belief in the common good defines us as Democrats. Values of kindness, fairness, respect, honesty and equality line up with our universal traits.
